In the face of a possible fourth wave of COVID-19, the
Ministry of Health (Minsa) is strengthening the response capacity in critical areas at the different hospitals nationwide; there are more than 2,000 ICU beds, Health Minister Jorge Lopez Peña reported.
The government official arrived in Junin region to deliver 24 adult/pediatric ICU kits, which will be distributed to 6 health facilities across the region.

Each ICU kit includes a multipurpose stretcher, a secretion aspirator on wheels, a pediatric adult ventilator, an 8-parameter vital signs monitor, and three 2-channel infusion pumps.
"The pandemic is giving us a break right now, but we cannot get overconfident, and we have to be prepared. Moreover, we are trying to improve the health system every day," Lopez remarked.
On the other hand, he mentioned that Minsa will acquire 160 neonatal ICU kits, which will be distributed to various health facilities nationwide.
