This recognition was achieved for the fourth consecutive year —following the editions in 2018, 2019, and 2020.
The Peruvian wonder also obtained the highest award by being recognized as "World's Leading Tourist Attraction" in the World Travel Awards' global version last year.
Foreign Trade-Tourism Minister Roberto Sanchez stressed that
Machu Picchu is deemed as Peru's main and most visited tourist destination, and it has great beauty.
Moreover, the official stated that visiting it is a great experience because of the energy that surrounds those who visit this destination.
"For this reason, and in order to promote the reactivation of tourism in Peru, it is important that we give greater visibility to our tourist attractions, which will allow visitors to also be interested and visit other important destinations that we have in every region of the country," he remarked.
As is known, on July 7, 2007, Machu Picchu was named one of the
New Seven Wonders of the World. This title was awarded following an online voting, which selected the new wonders supported by than 100 million votes from all continents.
