The law that regulates the medical and therapeutic use of cannabis and its derivatives was published today in the official gazette El Peruano.

The regulation will guarantee the right to health and will allow people to gain access to the product, only for those purposes.

It also authorizes informed use, research, import and sale of cannabis and its derivatives —exclusively for medical and therapeutic purposes— as well as production and provision of supplies for its research.

Additionally, a patient registry for cannabis and its derivatives use —authorized by a treating physician— has been established at Health Ministry, without requiring additional resources from the public treasury.

This registry shall necessarily include information about the disease and treating physician, as well as the doses and frequency of the treatment. The information contained herein shall be confidential.

Other registries have been established under this law. They intent to list names of importers, traders, authorized research organizations, as well as duly certified production sites.
