Peru: Loreto region received 169 tons of medical supplies since pandemic began

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) has delivered 169 tons of medical supplies to Loreto region since the state of emergency was declared in order to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and provide health workers with the best possible biosafety conditions.

They include personal protective equipment (PPE) and medicines that are part of the pandemic containment strategy led by Minsa, through the National Center for Supply of Strategic Resources in Health (Cenares).

So far, 3,653,902 PPE items —including jackets, pants, overalls, safety glasses, encapsulated suits, disposable hats, tri-fold face masks, N95 masks, and face shields— have been shipped.

Moreover, Loreto has received 111,595 medical supplies, including venoclysis equipment, alcohol-based hand sanitizer, peripheral intravenous catheters, 975 pulse oximeters, and 186,320 disposable lancets.

On the other hand, Minsa has sent 1,589,369 medicines, including azithromycin, hydroxychloroquine, dexamethasone, paracetamol, and dextrose, as well as 188,975 rapid tests and 36,250 qualitative antigen tests.

The shipments of PPE —transported by air and land— to regions and health facilities are part of the permanent actions carried out by Minsa, through Cenares, to combat COVID-19.
