Peru: Ledesma elected Constitutional Court Chairwoman

Lawyer Marianella Ledesma was elected Chairwoman of the Constitutional Court (TC) of Peru for the next two years thus replacing Ernesto Blume, the local press reported on Monday.

Ledesma will be the first woman to hold the presidency of the highest constitutional body.

According to RPP, she obtained four votes in favor versus the three received by Eloy Espinosa-Saldaña.

Ledesma will lead the TC, and Augusto Ferrero Costa will be in charge of the Vice-Chairmanship.

She is the second woman to be part of the TC after Delia Revoredo.
