The six
Culture Ministry-run museums in the northern region of Lambayeque received 14,151 visitors, both domestic and foreign, on the Independence Day long holiday weekend, the Decentralized Culture Directorate (DDC) has reported.
The head of the DDC-Lambayeque and Execution Unit 005 Naylamp, Julio Fernandez, pointed out that the statistical information on the visits to the six museums —Brüning, Royal Tombs of Sipan, Sican, Tucume, Huaca Rajada-Sipan, and Chotuna-Chornancap— is positive and places them among the most popular in the country.
Said museum broke its own record after attracting 7,587 visitors between July 28 and July 31.
The second most visited museum was that of Tucume, where 2,275 people learned the great history of Tucume, as well as its archaeology and customs from the pre-Hispanic period to the present.
The Huaca Rajada-Sipan Site Museum ranked third with 1,766 visitors, who decided to explore the place where archeologists found the intact tomb of the Lord of Sipan and Mochica elite members: the Warrior-Priest, the Warrior-Lord, and the Noble Warrior.
Next in line is the Brüning National Archaeological Museum, where 1,563 people admired the creative capacity of the ancient Lambayeque people through archaeological objects belonging to the Cupisnique, Mochica, Lambayeque, Chimu, and Inca cultures.
Likewise, said museum includes the renewed exhibition of the Priestess of Chornancap —a ruler of the Lambayeque Culture.
Additionally, the Sipan and Chotuna-Chornancap museums attracted 960 visitors.
