The Sixth National Preparatory Investigation Court on Wednesday ordered the seizure —in the form of registration— of 100% of the shares of former First Lady Nadine Heredia (2011-2016), in the legal entity called BAKERY 180, which are equivalent to S/7,245 (about US$1,970).
The decision comes after
Judge Leodan Cristobal declared well-founded the request for the
seizure in the form of registration and the restraining order as a precautionary measure against Heredia Alarcon by the Ad Hoc State Attorney's Office for the
Odebrecht case.
"(...) to declare well-founded the request for a precautionary measure of seizure in the form of registration and the restraining order formulated by the Ad Hoc State Attorney's Office for the Odebrecht case against Nadine Heredia Alarcon for her alleged involvement in the crime of illicit association to commit crimes and aggravated collusion to the detriment of the State," the resolution reads.
Thus, the Court approved the seizure of assets up to S/7,245 (about US$1,970), an amount that represents 100% of the former first lady's shares at BAKERY 180.
"I order to block the precautionary measure of restraining order over 100% of the shares that the accused Nadine Heredia Alarcon owns (in conjugal partnership) in the legal entity called BAKERY 180," the document adds.
Background
The wife of
Ollanta Humala is currently being prosecuted —along with the former president— for money laundering, as a result of the alleged coordination with former Odebrecht executives in Peru for the awarding of the Southern Gas Pipeline (Gasoducto del Sur) in exchange of bribes, and the irregular financing of their
Nationalist Party during the 2006 and 2011 electoral processes.
Both Heredia and Humala served nine months of preventive detention in 2017 and 2018, due to the investigations against them regarding the Odebrecht case.
However, the Constitutional Court revoked said measure, considering it excessive, while the complaint was being investigated by the Public Ministry.
