Health Minister Hernando Cevallos has met with Piura Region Governor Servando Garcia, legislators Manuel Garcia and Miguel Ciccia, as well as the Dean of Piura's College of Physicians Christian Requena, with the aim of strengthening and coordinating actions to combat COVID-19 in said region.
The Cabinet member informed regional authorities about the progress made in the efforts to build the high complexity hospital, for which a government-to-government agreement with France has been approved and the Ministry of Economy-Finance (MEF) is expected to approve an initial budget.
The
Ministry of Health (Minsa) emphasized that this level III-1 high complexity hospital in Piura will have a modern infrastructure to provide services at different specialties, as well as adequate equipment, including offices, emergency triage rooms, operating rooms, recovery and hospitalization beds, delivery rooms, X-ray rooms, ultrasound rooms, clinical beds, ICU and IMCU beds, among others.
In addition, this hospital will be very useful not only for this region, but it will also help solve serious health problems in regions such as Tumbes, Chiclayo, Cajamarca, and Amazonas, that is, it will be a macro-regional model.
For his part, Deputy Benefits-Health Insurance Minister Augusto Tarazona pointed out that, in the coming days, 20 ICU beds will be added to various hospitals across the region in order to strengthen the fight against the pandemic.
"Some of these beds will be placed in the pediatric unit, which means that it will be able to care for minors who are being affected in this third wave," the Minsa official said.
"Minsa has already received these beds. They should be delivered in the next few days, and the distribution will be made in accordance with the agreement between Minsa and the Regional Health Directorate (Diresa) for the strengthening of hospital capacities in the face of the third wave," he added.
Moreover, Minister Cevallos urged regional authorities to promote the strengthening and dynamism of the Regional Health Council, which would greatly help to face the main health problems in the region.
