The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Tuesday requested the lifting of his bank, tax, and telephone secrecy, as a symbol of his willingness to collaborate with justice and as a symbol of transparency.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Mr. Castillo emphasized that this is an unprecedented measure.

"As a symbol of my full readiness to collaborate with justice, and as a symbol of transparency, I have voluntarily requested the lifting of my bank, tax, and telephone secrecy, which is an unprecedented measure," he said.

Likewise, the President stated that he personally went to the Prosecutor's Office to request that it bring the date of his witness statement forward to December 28 this year.

"I emphatically reject I have participated in irregular acts. The doors of the (Government) Palace are open to support any measure that seeks to clarify doubts," the Peruvian leader pointed out.
