The Government of Peru —via its Ministry of Foreign Affairs— on Tuesday conveyed greetings to the people and Government of the Republic of India on their 76th National Independence Anniversary.

Likewise, the South American country reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the friendship and cooperation bond on the occasion of 60 years of diplomatic relations.

On August 7, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) announced that Peru and India had agreed to resume bilateral negotiations so as to establish a bilateral trade agreement.

"We are convinced that the Trade Agreement with India will strengthen commercial and economic ties between Peru and India, increasing bilateral trade and investments which, ultimately, bring great benefits to companies and citizens of both countries," Minister Juan Carlos Mathews said on that occasion.
