Peru: Gov't promotes coordinated actions to tackle rainy season in Cusco

13:37 | Cusco (Cusco region), Jan. 9.

Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Edgar Vasquez has emphasized President Martin Vizcarra's commitment to providing permanent support to the southern Andean region of Cusco during rainy season, as well as to promoting coordinated, rapid, and effective actions.

Therefore, Vasquez noted there is close coordination, and a clear example of it is the coordination meeting with authorities and entities hosted by the Regional Government of Cusco.

"From the central government, we will support the efforts required for attention and prevention," the dignitary remarked.

Also, he went on to say that specific proposals —concerning this matter— will be presented to the Council of Ministers.

The Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry head said that an upcoming visit to Cusco is scheduled with the purpose of making on-site visits joined by National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci) authorities.

These efforts are aimed at disaster prevention in the South American country.
