Peru: Gov't condemns MEPs expulsion from Venezuela

13:34 | Lima, Feb. 18.

The Peruvian Government —through its Foreign Affairs Ministry— on Monday condemned the expulsion of a delegation of European Parliament members and branded it as an abusive and arbitrary action of Nicolas Maduro's illegitimate and dictatorial regime in Venezuela.

The Bolivarian nation's Government denied entry to five MEPs who visited the country last Sunday. They had been invited by Interim President Juan Guaido, who is recognized by 50 countries

"Be aware! Our passports have been taken and we're being expelled from Venezuela. Bad manners and the only explanation is Maduro doesn't want us here," Spanish lawmaker Esteban Gonzalez Pons said on Twitter.

Likewise, Guaido indicated the MEPs were expelled by an isolated and irrational regime.

Spain and France have also condemned these acts.
