The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Friday affirmed that 301 urban water and sanitation works have been carried out in her administration so far, thereby benefiting more than 1,400,000 people.

Her remarks were delivered at a meeting with members of the Participatory Monitoring Committees of Public Works.

"This government, with the sensitive heart of an Andean woman, mother, daughter, and sister of all of you, has been working for the most vulnerable; so far, in my administration, we have completed 301 works with an investment of more than S/2.790 billion (about US$755 million), thereby benefiting 1,444,000 people," she said.

In Puno, for instance, she said water and basic sanitation works for the city of Juliaca will begin in August this year —after 50 years of waiting— for the benefit of 480,000 citizens.

In addition, pre-investment studies for the water project in Coata at the Azangaro wastewater plant will be carried out, and agreements will be signed with the municipalities of Ilave, Ayaviri, and Moho to do the same in the high plateau area.

In Lima, she said, more than 15,000 people from Carapongo and 33,000 from Manchay-third stage now have tap drinking water and sewage connections, a system of reservoirs, and water connections.

"We will continue working for millions of Peruvians, because water is a right to quality of life and health, we will not stop. Through this supervision, you participate directly in the works, which prevents acts of corruption," she noted.

In this regard, the Head of State underscored that the fight against corruption is a responsibility of all Peruvians.
