The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC), through the National Sustainable Urban Transport Program (Promobility), participated in the Intergovernmental Negotiations on Development Cooperation between Peru and Germany, held in Berlin during the first week of November.

This coordination between both countries is aimed at putting together an investment loan of €100 million, which will allow implementing sustainable urban transport projects promoted by the MTC, through Promobility, in cities such as Huamanga and Piura.

In addition, said loan will be used for the planning of integrated transport systems in other provinces across the country.

This loan will be in addition to the €55 million obtained to finance the North–South Trunk Line, a bus rapid transit (BRT) service in Trujillo, through the German Development Bank Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), which will benefit 1 million inhabitants in said province.

The project has already received the feasibility permit granted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) since April 2022.

The bilateral meeting in Berlin was chaired by the Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Niels Annen, and was attended by Promobility Executive Director Pablo Felix Luciani, as well as officials from other ministerial departments and the Embassy of Peru in Germany.

Promobility works in coordination with the MEF, the Ministry of Housing, and provincial municipalities in 29 cities across the country, promoting proper comprehensive planning of cities through integrated sustainable transport systems and respecting socio-diversity.
