National Police of Peru arrested
former Callao Region Governor Felix Moreno Monday night in Cieneguilla, Lima.
As confirmed by the
Interior Ministry, the detention was made as a result of a patient work of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (Dirincri) within the National Police, in coordination with the General Directorate of Intelligence (Digimin) within the Interior Ministry.
Interior Minister Carlos Moran claimed that Moreno was captured at 11:40 PM along with a woman named Sheila Reyes Vasquez.
According to Moran, the former regional authority had cash in his possession.
Moreno had been a fugitive since January this year, when the Judiciary sentenced him to five years of effective imprisonment.
