Reunión de trabajo entre el Canciller, Ricardo Luna, y el Secretario General de la OEA, Luis Almagro.

16:51 | Lima, Nov. 30.

Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Ricardo Luna met with Organization of American States (OAS) Secretary-General Luis Almagro to address issues of international concern.

During the audience, they discussed the preparations for the 8th Summit of the Americas to be in Lima on April 13-14, 2018.

The Summits of the Americas are institutionalized gatherings of Heads of State and Government of the Western Hemisphere where leaders discuss common policy issues, affirm shared values and commit to concerted actions to address challenges faced in the region.

According to Luna, Peru has been leading a consultation process with States, civil society organizations, the private sector, young people and other social actors to address the central theme of the Summit: "Democratic Governance against Corruption."

He said Peru is working to submit concrete actions and cooperation initiatives —for the approval of leaders— to combat corruption and impunity in the hemisphere.

At the meeting, authorities discussed the situation of democracy and political dynamics in the region.

Prior to this audience, Almagro met with President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski to discuss several issues included in the international agenda. The gathering took place at the Government Palace in Lima.
