Peru's Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Maria Sanchez highlighted on Monday the relevance of French President François Hollande's official visit to Peru, since it leads to a privileged partnership between both countries.
Mr. Hollande will be joined by State Ministers and a business delegation.
It must be noted this is the first official visit by a French Head of State to our country since 1964.
"On
the occasion, Presidents will sign a joint declaration [...] and
initiate the process towards the Peru-France privileged partnership,
which we consider a significant step," Sanchez told Andina news agency.
Once
in Lima, Mr. Hollande will hold an audience with hosting nation’s
President Ollanta Humala at 1:00 PM (local time) at the Government
Palace.
Dignitaries will address several aspects related to the
bilateral relation; as well as political, economic-business, cultural,
educational and scientific topics.
"It is an historical visit for us [...]," Sanchez added.
Over
20 documents —among treaties, inter-institutional cooperation covenants
and agreements between Peruvian and French private institutions— are
expected to be signed.
Likewise, the official informed that a business forum will be held on Tuesday and gather nearly 100 French entrepreneurs.
In this official event, Peru's economy will be also promoted as a destination for French investments.
"We
are focused on boosting trade relations and French investments in Peru
[...]. This is an excellent opportunity to make it happen," the minister
stated.
Once the visit concludes, the French President will continue his tour, which includes stops in Argentina and Uruguay.
