The
Judiciary has confirmed that the final verdict in the money laundering trial of former President Ollanta Humala Tasso and other defendants will be delivered on April 8, during an in-person hearing.
The trial will resume on March 25 at 9:00 a.m. (local time), with the presentation and conclusion of closing arguments by the legal defense of the Peruvian Nationalist Party, followed by the start of the defendants' direct defense, starting with Humala Tasso.
Additionally, the court has scheduled April 2 for the continuation of the direct defense of other defendants, which will be held virtually.
The dissolution of the Nationalist Party was also requested —the organization founded by Humala Tasso, with which he won the 2011 general elections under the Gana Peru (Peru Wins) Electoral Alliance.
The Prosecutor's Office claims that money laundering occurred during the 2006 and 2011 campaigns by the Nationalist Party, which was allegedly instrumentalized by the main co-defendants, Humala Tasso and Heredia Alarcon.
As is known, Ollanta Humala Tasso was President of the Republic from 2011 to 2016.
