The
issued a statement following the decision of the Ecuadorian Government to close its borders on February 9 and 10.
In this regard, it reported that the Government of Peru has been verbally informed by the Government of Ecuador of this measure, "and this is the information available up to this moment."
The Peruvian Ministry on Monday night indicated that it maintains constant contact with Ecuadorian authorities in order to obtain details that will allow for understanding the scope of the decision that has been adopted.
The unilateral security measure will also have an impact on the free movement of people and the development of trade and tourism in the border integration zone between the two countries.
Lastly, the statement confirms that the Government of Peru reaffirms its best willingness to cooperate with Ecuadorian authorities in matters of security and the fight against transnational organized crime, within the framework of current binational and regional mechanisms and agreements.
