Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Cesar Landa has held a virtual meeting with the Secretary-General of the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI), Mariano Jabonero, and the Director of the OEI office in Peru, Juan Carlos Ruiz.

In a post on Twitter, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that during the meeting —held on Wednesday— participating authorities agreed to continue cooperation in education, science, and culture.

After thanking OEI for its efforts, the minister highlighted the importance of the projects implemented in Peru, despite the difficult situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the other hand, the government agency noted that the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) entered into force for Peru on Wednesday, March 23, and with its ratification, Peru "reaffirms its commitment to international peace and security, as well as to disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation".

"Peru will actively participate in the First Meeting of States Parties to the TPNW, to be held next June, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue its efforts to promote the universalization and implementation of this important multilateral agreement," reads another tweet.
