Flights from South Africa will remain suspended until September 30, 2021, the Peruvian Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC) has announced.

The suspension of commercial passenger flights from South Africa is part of the sector's actions to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 in the country.

The regulation is also the outcome of constant coordination between the MTC and health authorities in the face of the current health emergency.

As part of actions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in air transportation, the MTC reminds passengers on international flights entering Peru that they must present a negative molecular or antigen test result.

Molecular test results must have been issued up to 72 hours before boarding a plane; while the results of the antigen analysis may be valid for a maximum of 24 hours prior to the trip.

In addition, passengers must wear a double face mask and fill out an affidavit online, during the 72 hours prior to the trip.

Children under 12 years of age and those who have suffered from COVID-19 in the last three months are exempt from submitting molecular or antigen test results.

The former will be asked for a medical certificate proving good health and the latter for their medical discharge document.
