Peru expresses condemnation and sorrow over events in northern Gaza Strip

The Government of Peru on Friday expressed its condemnation and sorrow for the events that recently occurred in northern Gaza Strip, which led to the death of dozens of defenseless civilians and numerous injuries.

This message was contained in a communiqué issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the X platform (formerly Twitter).

"The Government of Peru expresses its condemnation and sorrow over the events that occurred on February 29, in the north of Gaza Strip, which led to the death of dozens of defenseless civilians and numerous injuries," the document stated.

Likewise, the government conveyed its deepest condolences and solidarity "with the families of those affected, without distinction based on nationality or creed."

"Peru calls for respecting international law and international humanitarian law, as well as for guaranteeing the protection of civilians and the flow of humanitarian aid," the statement added.

"Guided by its commitment to multilateralism, international law and the peaceful resolution of disputes, Peru will continue to advocate for the two-State solution, Palestine and Israel, in accordance with Resolution 181 of the 1947 United Nations General Assembly, so that they can coexist in peace, within internationally recognized and secure borders, in accordance with international law and other relevant UN resolutions," it concluded.
