Peru exports to exceed US$50 bn in 2018 despite trade war

Peruvian exports will surpass US$50 billion in 2018 thanks to a strong external demand and despite a global trade war, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Roger Valencia projected.

Thus, the cabinet member reiterated his portfolio's goal of breaking the historical record of US$50 billion in foreign sales despite recent trade tensions between the United States and China.

To this end, the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur) seeks to provide greater added value to the Inca country's export products.

As is known, Deputy Foreign Trade Minister Edgar Vasquez had affirmed trade war between the U.S. and China will have a minor impact on Peru due to its diversified economy.

For its part, privately-run Foreign Trade Society (ComexPeru) had projected Peru's total exports will surpass US$51 billion in 2018, thus marking a record high since 2012 (US$46.33 billion).
