Everything is ready for tonight's debate between presidential candidates Keiko Fujimori (Fuerza Popular) and Pedro Castillo (Peru Libre). The event is slated to take place on May 30 at 7 p.m. in the southern city of Arequipa.

The debate is organized by the National Elections Board (JNE) and will be held at National University of San Agustin (UNSA) Assembly Hall.

The discussion, which will be moderated by Arequipa-born journalists Doris Cornejo and Cesar Espinoza, has been divided into six thematic sections:

1. Peru in the Bicentennial Year
2. Health and pandemic management
3. Economy and employment promotion
4. Education, science, and innovation
5. Fight against corruption and public integrity
6. Human rights, social policies, and assistance to vulnerable populations.

For each thematic section, Peruvian citizens will be able to make two questions, which must be previously submitted to the JNE.

The National Police is on high alert due to the debate and has deployed 4,000 agents to cordon off the area.

According to Peruvian National Police (PNP) Colonel Luis Pacheco, head of the Arequipa regional unit, Arequipa police personnel will receive the support of state security agents, special units, and the Air Police.

Both Fuerza Popular and Peru Libre, through their representatives, have reiterated their agreement with the terms of the presidential debate.

This happened on Friday during the last meeting of the parties involved held to finalize the details of the debate.

The agreement included details about the moderators, sections of the debate, the format, among other things.
