Peru economy expected to grow up to 2.1% this year

Economic agents predict that Peruvian economy may grow up to 2.1% in 2020, despite the impact of COVID-19 on the global economy, according to the Macroeconomic Expectations Survey carried out by the Central Reserve Bank (BCR).

According to the document, Peruvian entrepreneurs estimate a 2.1% growth of GDP this year.

Meanwhile, the financial sector projects a 1.0% expansion of the economy for 2020, while economic analysts forecast a GDP contraction of 2.2%.

Rebound in 2021

Regarding the performance of the economy in 2021, all economic agents agree that Peru will see a recovery in its GDP.

Economic analysts expect a 5.0% expansion next year, non-financial companies forecast a 3.0% growth, and the financial sector projects a 2.5% rise.

Furthermore, economic growth expectations for 2022 range from 3.0% to 3.9%.
