Cusco, Machu Picchu, and Lima have received new international recognition. The prestigious Italian magazine Io Donna, one of the main lifestyle publications in such European country, has described these Peruvian attractions as dream destinations and recommends them as spots to visit.

"Built by the Quechuas in the shape of a puma —the totemic animal par excellence— it is a condensation of constructions dating from the Viceroyalty which were settled on Inca walls, with a flourishing craft-work made of wool, fabrics, and wood," reads part of Cusco's description in the article.

The publication also highlights the fact that the most attractive trekking trails in Peru are located in this area.

Io Donna, a women's magazine and supplement of the Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera, recommends that upon arrival in Cusco —a city located 3,350 meters above sea level— visitors should drink plenty of water and coca-leaf tea to relieve altitude sickness.

Thanks to this publication, Italian travelers can learn more about the trip to Machu Picchu, as it highlights some points to consider before the visit, such as the stay in the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the boarding at the Ollantaytambo Train Station, which marks the beginning of the adventure.

Regarding the wonder of the world, Machu Picchu, the article says that "it is beautifully enclosed between two peaks, 2,492 meters above sea level."

It also notes that the Inca citadel remained hidden from the Spanish until 1911, when U.S. archaeologist Hiram Bingham discovered it.

Lima, a foodie destination

The publication also mentions Lima and describes it in a particular way: "A layer of clouds covers the sky of Lima in the early morning, as a result of the Humboldt current. We will have to wait until noon to see the colors of the metropolis, which are the protagonists of the acclaimed and creative Novo Andean cuisine."
