on Thursday toured the areas affected by landslides in Lima's eastern Cieneguilla district.
"We are in the Rio Seco zone, Cieneguilla ravine, one of the seven ravines that have also become activated. Yesterday morning we had (registered) a figure of more or less 2,500 affected homes, families actually, and 500 fully collapsed (homes). Today, that figure has risen considerably due to the landslide that occurred yesterday," she told TVPeru.
Minister Urteaga verified that the Municipality of Cieneguilla was carrying out the
respective registration so that the necessary support can be provided to the affected families.
"We also have to urge the population to get organized. We must know exactly which and how many houses have been totally lost," she pointed out.
The minister affirmed that more than 120 Army members arrived in the area to help with cleanup works. At the site, there is machinery to proceed with prevention works.
"We need to have the answer fast and immediately, because it is possible that it (ravine) might become activated again during the afternoon; indeed, we need the machinery to complete that (task) much faster," she said.
"Brigades from the Mimp are also arriving to offer this socio-emotional support to children and those who need it, because this is an emotional shock for all of us who have suffered these ravages of nature," she pointed out.
