Peru: COVID-19 response in 17 regions strengthened with mobile hospitals

09:58 | Lima, Jun. 1.

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) has strengthened the COVID-19 response in 17 regions across the country with the provision of mobile hospitals, intensive care modules, and tents.

The aim is to increase triage services and the identification of suspected cases, as well as the management of confirmed cases and critically ill patients in areas of expansion.

The General Directorate for Disaster Risk Management and National Defense in Health (Digerd) kicked off the works at the end of January this year, carrying out supervisions in Lima hospitals and maintaining constant communication with regions to identify points of care.

For this reason, five mobile hospitals have been deployed to Piura, La Libertad, Cusco, Arequipa, and Junin regions, while other three were put in place at Cayetano Heredia, Sergio Bernales and Villa El Salvador Emergency health facilities in the capital city.

Likewise, other mobile facilities (fully equipped tents) have been implemented in 14 regions (Cajamarca, Piura, Lima Province, Callao, Cusco, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Ica, San Martin, Ancash, Huanuco, Pasco, Madre de Dios, and Tacna), which are used for triage and sampling.

In addition, others have been distributed in Lima to Dos de Mayo, Arzobispo Loayza, Maria Auxiliadora, Hipolito Unanue and Santa Rosa hospitals.
