The Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud) has reported that some 1,171 people —the majority aged 31-64— are being treated at the Pan American Village's COVID-19 Care and Temporary Isolation Center to date, representing 73% of bed occupancy rate.

Pan American Village Director Dr. Juan Oriundo indicated that —over recent weeks— the isolation of families has increased. He highlighted such fact as the contagion chain can be stopped this way.

"(…) Last Thursday, between 6 to 7 families were admitted (to the Village), each one (composed) of 5 members, who requested to isolate themselves at the Pan American Village so as not to put other loved ones at risk," he indicated.

Likewise, Dr. Oriundo pointed out that there are 637 women and 534 men —the majority between the ages of 31 and 64 (46% of the total)— and 128 children who are under the age of 10.

Furthermore, the physician reported that around 678 people (58% of the total currently under isolation) had received one or two doses of the vaccine against COVID-19, which prevented them from developing more serious symptoms.

Moreover, Dr. Oriundo urged Peruvians to avoid in-person meetings on Criolla Music Day or Halloween.

The physician went on to add that biosafety measures —such as wearing face masks, washing hands, and maintaining social distancing— must continue to be complied with.

Since it began operations in March 2020, the Pan American Village's COVID-19 Care and Temporary Isolation Center has saved the lives of over 43,000 people who returned to their homes after overcoming the deadly virus, thanks to the care of medical professionals and technicians.
