in a Peruvian student who arrived from Hong Kong on Sunday night and was taken to Dos de Mayo Hospital to be evaluated.
General Director at the National Center for Epidemiology, Disease Prevention and Control (CDC-Minsa) Manuel Loayza informed that —following the test performed on the student— the result was negative for 2019 Coronavirus.
Loayza said that the Foreign Affairs Ministry —which remains in contact with Peruvian scholarship holders overseas— informed Minsa about the return of a student from Hong Kong on a flight to Lima with a stopover in Paris.
Thus, Minsa activated the Inter-health Platform and —as soon as the citizen stepped on Peruvian soil— authorities asked for his consent to isolate and take him to Dos de Mayo Hospital.
Hospital epidemiologist Jose Luis Bolarte explained that the student is currently in the isolation unit and under observation until any respiratory syndrome is ruled out.
Minsa also located the 41 people —who were around the student— for evaluation and follow-up purposes.
