The
Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) on Monday reported that the construction sector rose 4.2% year-on-year in October this year compared to the same month of 2021, due to greater progress in the implementation of public works.
Moreover, the issuing entity reported that the construction sector grew 2.3% between January and October this year over the same period in 2021.
Likewise, the Central Reserve Bank said that, in seasonally adjusted terms, the sector grew 1.6% last October compared to September this year.
On the other hand, it noted that the progress in the implementation of public works expanded 37.8% in the tenth month of the year, due to greater investment by local and regional governments, which rose 59% and 49.4%, respectively.
Furthermore, the Central Reserve Bank stated that, according to data disaggregated by the type of works, the construction of buildings, basic services, and road infrastructure works, as well as risk prevention works, saw an increase in the month of analysis.
Finally, it mentioned that domestic consumption of cement decreased 6.4% in October 2022, explained by lower demand in the north and south of the country.
On the contrary, shipments by UNACEM (a cement company) witnessed a slight increase of 0.7%.
