The congressional representation week will be held between February 21 and 25, so that the 130 legislators can return to their electoral constituencies.

During this period, legislators must maintain communication with citizens and social organizations from their electoral constituencies so as to identify, directly, their demands and needs.

Article 23 of the Regulations of the Congress establishes five business days each month where legislators return to their electoral constituencies, individually or in groups.

On the other hand, it states that lawmakers must address duly justified and documented complaints from the population.

In addition, article 23 provides that legislators must supervise the respective authorities and facilitate mediation among citizens and their organizations, as well as bodies of the Executive Branch, while regularly reporting on their parliamentary actions.

The 130 lawmakers elected for the 2021-2026 term were sworn into office on July 23, 2021 during a face-to-face ceremony.

Moreover, Accion Popular (Popular Action) legislator Maria del Carmen Alva Prieto was elected as Congress Chairwoman for the 2021-2022 term.

She is joined by fellow legislators: First Vice-Chairwoman Lady Mercedes Camones Soriano, Second Vice-Chairman Enrique Wong Pujada, and Third Vice-Chairwoman Patricia Rosa Chirinos Venegas.
