Peru: Congress Chairman meets with U.S. Ambassador

Peruvian Congress Chairman Alejandro Soto received a visit from United States Ambassador Stephanie Syptak-Ramnath with the aim of discussing mechanisms to strengthen bilateral relations.

The protocol meeting took place at the office of Parliament's chief on Monday. 

After welcoming the diplomat, Soto highlighted the good commercial relations that both countries maintain.

Similarly, he expressed wishes to continue strengthening the friendship ties that have united both nations for years.

"Let us continue to strengthen our friendship and business relationships in the best manner. From this Congress, we have an open door policy for everyone," he expressed.

In turn, Ambassador Syptak-Ramnath affirmed that the United States is a strategic ally of Peru, adding that both nations are united not only by friendship but also by history.

"We will mark 200 years of friendship in 2026. We should consider what more can be achieved in the private sector and between our respective governments," she said in Spanish-language remarks.

Lastly, the Parliament head gave the U.S. ambassador a present and an encyclopedia that covers the history of the Bicentennial Congress.
