Peru: Congress authorizes President's trip to Chile

During a plenary session on Monday night, Congress authorized Peruvian President Pedro Castillo to travel abroad to attend the ceremony marking the transfer of presidential power in Chile, which will be held in the cities of Santiago and Valparaíso.

Thus, the Head of State is allowed to leave the country from March 10 to 11, 2022.

The legislative authorization resolution was approved with 74 votes in favor, 31 against, and 6 abstentions.

The president's attendance at this ceremony will strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation between the two countries.

According to the draft legislative resolution, this way continuity will be given to a bilateral work agenda aimed at identifying priority issues.
