The Congress of the Republic on Saturday published a legislative resolution which authorizes President Pedro Castillo to travel to Switzerland from May 21 to 27 to participate in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Assembly in the city of Davos.

This provision was approved last Thursday at Parliament plenary session with 96 votes in favor, 3 against, and 1 abstention.

In addition to participating in WEF's Annual Assembly, to be held on May 24 and 25, the Head of State will also hold related work meetings on May 23.

The legislative resolution indicated that President Castillo will be able to interact with important world and regional leaders, as well as senior international executives.

It added that among the issues to be addressed are the Peruvian Government's priorities, such as the response to COVID-19, post-pandemic economic reactivation, inequality around the world and at the national level, as well as strengthening the resilience of the global health system.

He will also participate in dialogues on improving education, sustainable development of the Amazonia, and digital transformation in Latin America, among others.

Similarly, holding work meetings are expected at related events so as to learn about the Swiss experience in the development of infrastructure and agrarian development.
