Colca Valley —Arequipa region's most visited attraction— is consolidating its position as the main tourist destination in Arequipa and southern Peru, State-run Colca Valley Autonomous Authority (Autocolca) Manager David Valdivia affirmed.

The valley received 8,131 visitors in the first half of February 2018.

Said figure is positive for the sector, taking into account 10,995 tourists visited this destination in February last year.

In this regard, he projected more than 15,000 visitors would arrive in the area by the end of the current month.

According to Valdivia, this would show Colca Valley is still the favorite destination among domestic and foreign tourists.

It must be noted tourist flows into this attraction stood at 17,485 last January, up by 23.16% from the same month in 2017.

The Autocolca representative also pointed out most visitors are foreigners from the United States, Canada, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Bolivia.
