Peru's superfoods lifted the name of the country high during the latest edition of Gulfood 2021 —the world's largest annual food and beverage fair and the most important for the MENASA region— the South American country's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) reported on Wednesday.

Held in Dubai, the event featured the participation of seven Peruvian companies: Agrícolas Forestales, Blue Market, Candela Perú, Deli Organic, Macarena Punch, Visions, and White Lion Nuts.

These enterprises featured grains, spices, and juices, as well as sacha inchi, ginger, and innovative maca-based energy drinks.

The exporters —who participated in a 100% face-to-face fair after one year— stressed the relevance that Peru’s exportable offer has gained in that region, as it is an area highly dependent on imports.

Meetings with importers

Likewise, our compatriots held business meetings with prominent importers from the UAE, India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon, as well as from more distant countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

Peruvian entrepreneurs —whose attendance was supported by the sectorial brand SuperFoods Peru— managed to close deals worth US$1 million during the fair and aim to sell more products for a total of US$6.7 million over the next 12 months.

The participation in Gulfood 2021 was organized by PromPeru's Trade Office in Dubai.

It is worth mentioning that the UAE is the thirteenth most important market for our exports, having exceeded US$700 million in 2020 and reached a cumulative total worth over US$3.3 billion since 2011.
