Peru claims gold at Muaythai 2018 Youth World Championships

14:08 | Bangkok (Thailand), Aug. 9.

Peruvian Arena Castro won gold medal in the +75 kg category at Muaythai's 2018 IFMA Youth World Championships.

The 17-year-old (+75 kg) defeated Russia's Sabina Adilbaeva in the semifinals and then beat Turkey's Seyma Ünal in the finals.

At age 14, Tatiana Mora (-45 kg) also showed a good performance to win against Australian Electra Medcalf. However, she lost to Belarus' Aliaksandra Malchanka, thus winning bronze.

It must be noted the Peruvian Muaythai Federation had sent a delegation —composed of six athletes— to the 2018 Youth World Championships held in Bangkok on August 2-10.
