President Martin Vizcarra on Monday morning opened this year's Civic-Military Parade in Lima, which is part of Peru's 198th Independence anniversary.

This annual event —held every July 29th— features detachments representing the Inca country's military and civil institutions, as well as the National Police.

The ceremony sees the presence of State ministers, congress members, high-ranking military officers, religious authorities, diplomats, and the First Family led by the President's wife Maribel Diaz.

Prime Minister Salvador del Solar and Cabinet members —including Ministers Jorge Moscoso (Defense) and Carlos Moran (Interior)— join the Head of State during the ceremony.

Culture Ministry

Peru's Culture Ministry participated in the Civic-Military Parade.

Its ensemble presented seven dances performed by over 600 dancers and musicians, including 26 artists with disabilities from Fray Masias Institute, who delighted the audience with Cusco's traditional Valicha Huayno.

Foreign delegations

Likewise, delegations from four nations take part in this year's parade.

On this occasion, participating countries include Argentina, Colombia, Chile, and Ecuador.

Pan American Games

Furthermore, Peruvian athletes —who won medals at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games— joined the parade.

Gladys Tejeda, Christian Pacheco, and Diego Elias —who grabbed gold— as well as Marcela Castillo and Hugo del Castillo —who won silver— led the Inca country's delegation.

The para athletes, who will represent the country at the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games, also showed up to the event.

National Police

Moreover, Peru's National Police participated in the parade.

Members of the Second Lieutenant Mariano Santos Mateos company wore the police uniform of the Civil Guard of 1874.

The pictures above show the top moments of the event.
