Citizens in favor and against the recently-submitted presidential impeachment motion participated in marches held through the streets of downtown Lima on Saturday.
A group of citizens —opposed to the impeachment request— gathered at San Martin Square and walked through various streets of the capital.
On the other hand, the march convened by impeachment supporters came to end in front of the Palace of Justice. The event was convened by former presidential candidate Rafael Lopez Aliaga's Renovacion Popular party.
Another group of government opponents marched towards the Government Palace. Some violent acts were witnessed once its members were not allowed to reach the site. Nonetheless, those acts were stopped by law enforcement agents.
