Peru: Citizens march through Lima streets

19:12 | Lima, Jun. 12.

Various citizen groups on Saturday afternoon marched through the main streets of Lima's downtown and Jesus Maria district supporting the candidates who participated in the presidential runoff election, which took place on June 6.

There were two mobilizations, one in support of Keiko Fujimori (Fuerza Popular party) and another in support of Pedro Castillo (Peru Libre party).

The march in favor of Fuerza Popular traveled along Paseo de los Heroes Avenue until reaching Campo de Marte on Peruanidad Avenue.

This mobilization was convened to ask the electoral institutions to "transparently resolve the challenged voting records" in the recent presidential election.

For their part, Peru Libre supporters walked along Garcilaso de la Vega Avenue and arrived at San Martin Square, where the main event was held.

They also requested that their votes and electoral results be respected.

Both marches unfolded peacefully.
