Peru, China coordinate actions to strengthen cooperation

Peru’s Prime Minister Juan Jiménez held a meeting with China’s Deputy Minister of Commerce Li Jinzao, in order to strengthen the political, trade and cultural relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the officials conducted a review of the future bilateral cooperation and coordinated actions to strengthen the traditional friendship ties between Peru and China.

Among other topics, both officials discussed the proposal to reactivate the Peru-China Cooperation Joint Commission, in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation, as well as the possibilities for financial cooperation for development projects and the construction of a convention center.

Peru also requested China's support for the construction and implementation of the National Emergency Operations Center (COEN), to be managed by Peru’s Civil Defense Service (Indeci).

In recent years, China has become a Peru’s major source of cooperation and, to date, it has committed a total of 160 billion yuan, equivalent to about US$ 26 million, with the possibility to increase this amount.
