Peruvian Health Minister Pilar Mazzetti, as well as Deputy Ministers Luis Suarez and Victor Bocangel, were on Thursday recognized over their efforts in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and for their contribution to the development of the nation.

Within the framework of the Armed Forces Day, the Head of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces Cesar Astudillo presented each of them with the Marshal Eloy Ureta Montehermoso Medal in the Rank of Cross.

Former Deputy Minister Nancy Zerpa, Dr. Martin Yagui, and Health Ministry Advisor Lissete Ortega were also honored by the Armed Forces.

One more year is remembered since the celebration of Armed Forces Day was institutionalized on September 24, 1977, through Supreme Decree No. 003-77-CC.FA.

On this day, the Great Marshal and Patron of the Arms of Peru, the Virgin of Mercy —who is considered a spiritual guide of the country's soldiers— is also honored.
