Peru: 5,665 people returned to regions on 50 humanitarian flights during emergency

13:42 | Lima, May. 12.

To date, 50 humanitarian flights have transported a total of 5,665 people to different regions of Peru thanks to the coordination efforts undertaken by the National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci) and regional governments.

As is known, these fellow citizens were stranded outside their cities of residence —mainly in Lima— once the National Government decreed the state of emergency last March to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Indeci informed that humanitarian flights are operated in accordance with the guidelines established by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) and in compliance with strict safety and health protocols to prevent a further spread of the pandemic in the national territory.

In this sense, 42,634 passengers have been mobilized, of whom 31,766 are foreigners, who are already in their countries of origin.
