10:43 | Tacna (Tacna region), Sep. 14.
In order to prevent the irregular entry of immigrants into Peru, 180 agents from police stations and specialized sub-units in the
XIV Police Macro-Region of Tacna are safeguarding various points along the border with Chile.
Deployed in three shifts, the agents patrol the area in police SUVs, motorbikes, and quad-bikes.
Some of the vehicles are parked at strategic locations along the borderline in order to deter the foreigners who attempt to enter the national territory in an irregular manner.

In the past few hours, staff from the
National Superintendence of Migrations, with the police support, advised the foreign citizens, who were gathered in the surroundings of Panamericana Sur (Southern Pan-American) Highway, in the border area between both countries,
to regularize their migratory status to enter Peru.
Until Wednesday, around
30 foreign citizens —mainly Haitians, as well as Venezuelans and Colombians— were still standing alongside the road, on the Chilean side of the border, according to reports from the
Peruvian National Police (PNP).
