Pacific Alliance: Presidents to lead Investment Summit in U.S.

The Pacific Alliance Investment Summit 2018 will take place in New York today with the presence of Presidents Martin Vizcarra (Peru), Sebastian Piñera (Chile), Ivan Duque (Colombia), and Enrique Peña Nieto (Mexico).

On this occasion, Latin American leaders will discuss the mechanism's potential as a growth and development engine, as well as the multiple economic alternatives it offers.

The Summit provides an opportunity to spotlight the way the Pacific Alliance is connected to the world through trade, investments, innovation, and financial markets.

The event will also serve to illustrate its impact in the region and its projection into the Asia-Pacific, which cements its position as one of the most trustworthy and attractive platforms to investors.

As part of the program, Chile's Foreign Affairs Minister Roberto Ampuero; Colombia's Trade, Tourism and Industry Minister Jose Manuel Restrepo; Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Rogers Valencia; and Mexico's Economy Secretary Ildefonso Guajardo will speak about the need to promote and speed up the development of global value chains.

Other issues to be addressed include the future relationship between member and associate states, as well as the bloc's opportunities in view of the global economic context. 


Private sector

Additionally, the private sector will be hosting a panel discussion to explore corporations' roles within the Alliance.
