Permanent Representative of Peru to the Organization of American States (OAS) Gustavo Adrianzen affirmed that various nations represented at said body have expressed their solidarity with and commitment to Peru, given the situation the country is currently going through.

Speaking from Washington D.C., he noted that the aim is to provide them with the truth and evidence, because a false narrative has been created about what happened on December 7, the last day of the Pedro Castillo administration.

In this regard, Adrianzen stated that the video showing the moments before the Address to the Nation, in which he is seen along with then-Prime Minister Betssy Chavez, will help prove that a coup d'état took place.

The Permanent Representative of Peru to the OAS reiterated that said action did not prosper thanks to the democratic conduct of institutions and to the fact that the current President of the Republic Dina Boluarte assumed power thereafter through constitutional succession.

"Several representatives of the nations of the Organization of American States have expressed their solidarity with and commitment to Peru, as well as their strong support to contribute strengthening democracy," Adrianzen said in statements to RCR.

"Some have been a little more moderate, but our job is to get closer to them, we will reach out to each of them bringing a message of truth," he added.

Likewise, the diplomat indicated that part of the message that Peru seeks to send out is that Pedro Castillo will be prosecuted in Peru, with all the guarantees of due process.

In this regard, the Permanent Representative remarked that very few nations, those that are ideologically closest to him, still defend the ex-President.
