Lima 2019 united Chefs of Mission from all over the continent

16:32 | Lima, Mar. 21.

Close to a hundred sports leaders from all over the Americas visited Peru to see how preparation had advanced and to tour the principle competition venues and accommodations being constructed for the Lima 2019 Pan American and Para-Pan American Games.

In January, the Inca country saw the arrival of around 70 Chefs de Mission and, in February, another 30 directors, who head the 41 delegations of the Olympic Committees of the Americas in the Pan American Games and the 33 delegations of the National Paralympic Committees, respectively.

The delegations participated in a seminar (on different dates) in which they learned about the main efforts related to the preparation of the games and toured each one of the venues where the competitions would be held to let the delegates get situated.

The inauguration of the first seminar was led by Carlos Neuhaus Tudela, president of Lima 2019; Keith Joseph, vice president of Panam Sports; Ivar Sisniega, secretary general of Panam Sports; and Pedro del Rosario, head of the Peruvian Olympic Committee.

For the inauguration of the second seminar, Carlos Neuhaus was joined by Xavier Gonzalez, CEO of the International Paralympic Committee; Julie Dussliere, president of the Paralympic Committee of the Americas; and Lucha Villar, president of the National Paralympic Association of Peru.

The issues addressed were related to the policies and procedures surrounding the Lima 2019 Games, including the arrivals and departures of the delegations, transportation, hospitality, ticket sales, ceremonies, sports registration, competition calendar, and accessibility of each venue, to name a few.

The Chefs de Mission also learned about the work being done in the National Sports Village (VIDENA), the Pan American and Para-Pan American Village, the Villa El Salvador Sports Center, the Villa Maria del Triunfo Sports Complex, the Callao Regional Sports Village, and the National Stadium, which is the venue of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

The Chefs de Mission lead the delegations of the National Olympic Committees and National Paralympic Committees that will participate in the Lima 2019 Games.
