Lima 2019: Quality infrastructure for the best athletes in the Americas

14:02 | Lima, Mar. 21.

The Lima 2019 Pan American Games will leave —as its legacy— a new sports infrastructure, designed according to the best quality standards and universal accessibility practices, something up till now unprecedented in the country.

Most of the construction will be completed by March 31st, in sufficient time for the respective tests before the Lima 2019 Games

The pace of execution in the projects is astonishing, namely the significant progress, which took place in only the few months since the work began.

A clear example is the Pan American and Para-Pan American Village, the main lodging facility in Lima 2019, whose seven buildings, with 1,096 apartments, are 100% complete.

The final projects in this venue are scheduled for completion on March 31st. They are erected in the surroundings and take into consideration the landscaping of the whole Village, so they will help further improve and embellish the decoration of the area.

Likewise, within the Sports Complex of Villa Maria del Triunfo, the physical construction of the sports fields for hockey, rugby, softball, baseball, Basque pelota and the Aquatic Center are complete, as well as the lighting of the venue.

Meanwhile, in VIDENA, the projects have passed the 80% mark in their construction. There, the roof of the velodrome is more than 75% complete.

In the Athletic Stadium, the installation of the main competition track has begun, and the track itself has many of the same features applied in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The warm-up track is already installed, and the delivery for all these projects is also scheduled for March 31st

In the Aquatic Center, water tests are being carried out in the warm-up pool. This theater will be ready in May, due to its water calibration needs.

In turn, in Sports Center 3, the work on the competition floor is complete.

In Callao, the progress has exceeded 80% for the infrastructure of the Sports Center, where work is also being done on the warm-up courts. This venue will also have all its infrastructure ready by March 31st. That includes the Miguel Grau Coliseum.
