Lima 2019: Peru football 5 team ready for its debut at Parapan Am Games

09:23 | Lima, Aug. 21.

Peru's national football 5 team, made up of athletes with visual impairment, is prepared for its international debut at the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games.

The matches will be played starting Saturday, August 24, at Villa Maria del Triunfo Sports Center.

When football is played with the heart, no visual impairment prevents you from kicking the ball.

It is the overwhelming passion for the king of sports what encourages people to watch five men chase a ball with a noise-making device inside on a pitch measuring 40m x 20m. All outfield players must wear blackout masks as they play.

Peru will be represented by a group of enthusiastic players. They have trained for two years under the direction of Felipe Ramirez, the coach.

The 10 selected players are ready to make competitors respect their house while showing the Peruvian style of play.

In fact, in recent months, they played against local teams Alianza Lima, Universitario, and Cristal, which captivated the professional players.

"These experiences have been very useful, especially to make people understand that we feel this sport like them," said Juan Pablo Torres, member of the red-white team.
